A UK-based car company, The Lightning Car Company, is taking pre-orders for a new car which sounds very nifty indeed. It runs completely on electricity, does 0 - 60mph in 4.0 seconds, has a range of up to 250 miles per charge, and a charge only takes 10 minutes. No mention of a price tag unfortunately but there's a good discussion on this blog entry about price of some of the components, and generally about the car. One figure mentioned is that running the car could be up to £10,000 per year cheaper than an equivalent petrol-run car, taking into account that the car won't be taxed since it's electricity-run, lower fuel costs etc. I want one - but somehow think that'll remain a dream :-)
